This woodpecker was taken hand held with a 300mm zoom in my backyard. Biggest challenge was getting a well focus photo hand held with minimum depth of field. I upped the ISO to 1000, while setting the aperature at f/5.6 to minimize depth of field. Camera selected the exposure time of 1/640 sec. Metering mode was set to pattern.
