President's Corner - April, 2009

The end of the “Camera Club Year” is coming fast. Only 3 meetings before we knock off for the summer. As we prepare for summer we have plenty of activities to consider. The last April meeting will be at La Crosse Floral – bring your camera! The 1st weekend in May is the Fitness Fest which our club will support with volunteer photographers. The last meeting in May (and for the year) will feature Dan Jackson speaking on the Audubon Society and his hobby of birding.

The N4C Conference at Springbrook is coming soon. I am looking forward to trying some infrared photography with the coming of green foliage. The trails at Springbrook can provide some nice opportunities.

Election of officers and committee chairs will take place at our May 12 meeting. We will nominate and elect people to: president, vice pres., treasurer, secretary, Judging Chair, N4C contact, N4C digital judging contact. We also would like to establish someone to coordinate our Ground Glass newsletter. We will also discuss and establish the monthly competition categories for next year.

Summer Activities:
Our Year-End Banquet is Sunday, June 7 at 6:00 at the Shrine. The cost for a nice buffet is $20 per person. Pay John Zoerb in advance. We must give a final count, which we will be committed to, by Wed, June 3.
We will plan a field trip to Bob Hurt’s studio in Dakota, MN
We will discuss and plan a summer picnic at a May meeting.
If you have any summer field trip ideas, let me know or offer at a meeting.
