President's Corner - August, 2009

The days are getting shorter and making it easier to shoot photos in the sweet light of early and late day. We should also see more foggy mornings which will provide good photo opportunities. Our club has volunteered to be Official Oktoberfest Photographers and six club members have volunteered so far. We will be given “official Buttons” that will give us a free pass into Fest Events to shoot photos. If you have not signed up and wish to join our “Fest Photo Team” send an email to me.
Our 2010 Convention Committee meets 8/25 as we are busy preparing to put our best foot forward at this year’s convention in Duluth. It is important to be well represented in Duluth and promote next year’s convention in La Crosse. Jerry Bonsack has prepared a promotional DVD which we will use. (Jerry is currently in Saudi Arabia on business. The last email from him said he was enjoying 100 degrees.) If you can attend the Duluth N4C Convention October 1-4 it is time now to make a hotel reservation and register for the convention. Info and registration for available on the N4CDulth website: http://www.n4cduluth2009.org/
At the August planning meeting we will also develop a program schedule for LACC meetings for the 2009-2010. By September 1 my goal is to fill in the blanks in our schedule which is on this website. The competition categories by month are already on the schedule.
Tuesday, September 8 is our first meeting of the year. Terry Zalewski will preside for me as I have a conflict. I anticipate new members at our September meetings based on the number of emails generated through our website. I will have to wait until September22 to meet everyone.
The subjects for competition for September are: OPEN Projected, NATURE Projected, and COLOR PRINTS. REQUIREMENTS to enter images for September are to have PAID your annual DUES and submit your images by 5:00pm Friday, Sept 18.
