President's Corner - July, 2009
Wow ! Only ten days left in July and the days are getting shorter. The county fair is over, but still plenty of festivals to attend – and shoot pictures (think People Category). La Crosse Irish Fest is August 7-9. The colorful Great River Jazz Fest is August 14-16. Ever heard of the La Crosse Storytelling Festival? Check out lacrossestoryfest.com. It is September 11-12 at Myrick Park. There are also more area county fairs coming – they are usually well promoted. For the big fest - Camera Club members will form a team of “Official Oktoberfest Photographers” this year. Contact Terry Zalewski for info.
Scheduled camera club events this summer include:
--Convention planning meeting at Owen’s house on 7/28 at 6:30.
--Photo shoot of cranes in training at Necedah Wildlife Refuge on 8/15 departing 4:30 am. Contact Shirley/Doyle Gates at 608-792-3041 for info on the Crane event.
--Also on August 15 is the Camera Club Summer Picnic at Owen and Francie Johnson’s house at 267 Elm Drive Onalaska. Large, private backyard on the edge of town. Good chance for bird photos. Bring your camera. Picnic starts at 2:00 and continue ??. Target for picnic dinner is 3:30-4:00. Bring a dish to share, meat to grill, and your favorite beverage. Plates, tableware, coffee will be furnished.
