Meeting Summary - September 23, 2008

  • Quick introductions.
  • Terry still needs help with the Oktoberfest photo contest display at the library this weekend. Contact him if you’re able to help.
  • Owen gave us the N4C competition results for September.
  • Mike’s field trip on Saturday had five people and they went to various places including the Petitbone boat landing, St. Rose convent, Viterbo, Guadeloupe Shrine, and the Threshing Bee at Norskedalen. He will be hosting another field trip on Saturday the 27th at 7am. Meet at the old Hardee’s building by Kmart. Destination to be decided.
  • Shirley and Doyle are hosting a field trip on Saturday, October 4th at an abandoned homestead. Because of the need to use 4x4 vehicles to get up on the ridge, you must RSVP if you want to go. Participants will meet at the Kwik Trip on 5th & Cass at 7am. Be prepared to spend the entire morning. More details will be sent out in an email.
  • The 2008 N4C convention is in the Cities this weekend. We will get a report from Owen and Jerry sometime next month..
  • We have signed the contract with the Radisson hotel to host our N4C convention in 2010.
  • We still need photos of the La Crosse area for promotional video. About 1000 photos are needed so submit as many as you can. Any subject; it just needs to be something that can be photographed in the La Crosse area. Put them on a CD and submit to Jerry by Nov 11th. Landscapes should be from this time of year because they should represent what the convention goers will see. Put the location in title of file if possible. We will review the photos at the Dec 9th meeting.
  • Still need help on the convention planning committees. If you are interested, contact a board member.
  • John brought PSA magazines to give out.
  • John reminds us that you can enter slides in competition and they will be judged as slides.
  • John went over the ideas for upcoming programs and asked for volunteers to teach.
  • Reminder: Competition entries due in Friday at 5pm before the competition meeting.
