SATURDAYS, MAY 1-OCTOBER 31, 2018 - 7 a.m. - noon
Dubuque Farmers Market. Located in the Upper Main District in the area around City Hall (Iowa,12th and 13th streets), local vendors have gathered to sell homegrown or handmade items since 1845.

River City Ski Team Shows, 7-8 p.m., Airport Beach off Fisherman's Road, French Island. Free. Bring a lawn chair or towel to sit on the beach and enjoy an hour of barefooting, pyramids, high flying jumping, and some comedy thrown in for good measure.

Deadline for submitting photos for the West Salem Historical Society photo contest "Seasons of La Crosse County". Photo entries (up to four 5x7 up to 8x12 photos mounted on a black or white 15x10 black or white foam board surface) will be accepted at West Salem Health Mart Pharmacy, 880 North Mill Street, West Salem. List of possible entries postmarked by midnight for the La Crosse Interstate Fair open class photography competition; online entries accepted until Friday, June 29, with no entry fee. Late entry fee $10. Annual Prairie Villa Rendezvous. St. Feriole Island along the Mississippi, Prairie du Chien. Free admission. Fur-trading era environment recreating life as it was in the 1840's when Prairie du Chien was the hub of the fur trading. Largest re-enactment in the Midwest. Open to the public.

Great Galena Balloon Race, Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa, 444 Eagle Ridge Drive, Galena, IL.
The event features over 20 hot air balloons. 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday - Galena on the Fly race begins; 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday Night Glow; 5:30 a.m. Saturday Crack of Dawn race begins. Norskedalen's Midsummer Fest, Norskedalen Nature and Heritage Center, N455 O. Ophus Road, Coon Valley, WI. Celebrate the summer solstice Scandinavian style. Some of the many events include musical entertainment, pioneer craft demonstrations and baking demonstrations in homestead buildings, a woodcarving show, tractor-drawn rides and more.

Galesville Founder's Day. Farmers market, art in the park, music in the gazebo, Old Main history bus tours, 2nd Minnesota Battery of Light Infantry encampment and cannon firing at the A.A. Arnold House/East Side Farm; also tours of the A.A. Arnold House.

Columbus Horse and Carriage Festival, Firemen's Park, Columbus, WI. One of the largest horse and carriage pleasure driving shows in the United States and features competitors from all over the Midwest.

Cranberry Blossom Day in Warrens, WI. Marsh tours 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Wetherby Cranberry Co., 3365 Auger Rd., Warrens. Free. Come see the beautiful cranberry blossoms in the shape of a crane head and see how cranberries got their name. Watch honey bees busy pollinating the blossoms. Learn how cranberries grow. Dan Schroeder of S Lazy D Ranch is offering tours of his bison ranch noon-4 p.m. Visitors will have a chance to view baby bison.

Hole in the Sock Gang - 1880's Street Theatre. McGregor, IA. Free shows at 1 p.m. The Old West comes alive in downtown McGregor with a re-enactment of action-packed bank robberies, cowboy shootouts, saloon girls and more. (Last Saturday of each month through October.)

The Bristol Renaissance Festival is an outdoor Renaissance and fantasy-themed theatrical experience. Check their website; renfair.com for a list of themed weekends. Three Rivers Roleo Log Rolling Tournament, Great River Landing, Onalaska, WI. 11 a.m. Three Rivers Roleo is a professional and amateur log rolling tournament on a historic logging site. Athletes will include hometown favorites as well as other professionals who have been featured on ESPN. Bring a lawn chair. Entry to the event is free.

War of 1812 Battle of Prairie du Chien Reenactment, Villa Louis State Historic Site, 521 Villa Louis Road, Prairie du Chien, WI. Admission: adults $10; children 5-17 $5; senior citizens $9. Learn about the British assault on U.S. Fort Shelby in a battle scenario Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Tour the camps and learn about military life in 1814.

Baraboo's Big Top Parade and Circus Celebration, downtown Baraboo. The community will transform into a circus mecca with family-friendly Circus Celebration performances, shows and activities all weekend and the Baraboo Big Top Parade featuring 75 circus-theme and community units on Saturday at 11 a.m. around the downtown historic courthouse square. Special post-parade $5 admission to Circus World.

Chippewa River Rendezvous, Mill Yard Park, Park Street, Cornell, WI. Travel back to the 1600s and learn about the history of Wisconsin and the people who lived here. Historical demonstrations.

2018 Battle of Morseville Civil War Reenactment in Stockton, IL. This reenactment on a farm between Galena and Rockford features battles both days plus a pie auction, artillery dress parade, fashion shows and a baseball game.

Ho-Chunk Nation Pow-Wow, Pow-Wow Grounds, State Hwy. 54 East, Black River Falls, WI. Twice a year the Ho-Chunk welcome all friends and neighbors to attend their pow-wow held as a celebration of thanks. It provides a time to gather and enjoy drums, dancing and a wide variety of crafts available from vendors across the country. Enjoy the vibrant colors and designs of the dancers "regalia" (outfits) and admire their fluid, beautiful dancing.

Villa Louis Carriage Classic. Villa Louis State Historic Site, 521 Villa Louis Road, Prairie du Chien, WI. Midwest's most elegant and lavishly appointed equine sport driving event. Learn how this event descends from the Dousman era when the Villa Louis was known as the Artesian Stock Farm and American Standardbred horses were bred, trained and raced.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Days in the village of her birthplace, Pepin, Wisconsin. The 25th annual Laura Contest is one of the most popular activities taking place at Laura Days. Girls, ages 8-11, compete to determine who most closely identifies with Laura. Contestants dress in "Prairie girl" attire representing the 1867-1875 period. Contestants are on the Main Stage beginning at noon Saturday.

Great Dakota Gathering, Unity Park, 860 Parks Avenue, Winona, MN. Celebrate the growing relationship between the people of Winona and the people of the Dakota Nations. One-day traditional pow-wow.

OCTOBER 12-14, 2018
Civil War Immersion Weekend at Norskedalen near Coon Valley, WI. This year the reenactment will portray a skirmish that led to the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky in October of 1862.
