Judges' comments:
Lovely sunburst; great backlighting on the weeds; horizon well-placed; creates a feeling of vastness
Maker's notes:
This image was taken in Sand Dunes National Park in Sept 2020. Camera was tripod mounted with lens set to 24 mm. It is a 5 shot HDR image. Nominal exposure was f/18 (for depth of field), ISO 400, shutter speed 1/125 sec. Shots were also taken at +/- 2 and +/- 1 stops. Camera was set to Aperture Priority so additional stops were obtained by changing shutter speed. (that's why tripod was necessary) . Resulting 5 shots were 1/30th, 1/60th, 1/125th, 1/250th, 1/500th seconds. Images were combined in Lightroom.
