Judges' comments:
Good detail and texture; difficult lighting situation; the very white clouds steal the eye from the rock formation in the foreground
Maker's notes:
This image was taken in Bryce Canon NP, Utah about 10 AM. It is a single shot exposure with my Canon 7D Mark II and 18-135mm zoom lens set at 35mm handheld. Camera was set in aperture priority mode at f/16 for max depth of field and ISO 400. Resulting shutter speed was 1/00 second. The formation was interesting because with the naked eye it looked like the entrance to a cathedral with a king and copy coming out. Converted to B&W in Photoshop with the key edit being the application of a high contrast red filter.
