Judges' comments:
Good technique; sharp; good tonal range; good texture in the flower; flower is well done; could use better composition; possibly mismatched lighting
Maker's notes:
This image was shot in the Netherlands during tulip time in late April. Camera was a Canon 60D, handheld with a 75-200mm lens set to 169 mm. Camera was in Aperture Priority mode set to f/16 (for depth of field), ISO-800 (to get high shutter speed with telephoto lens), Resulting in a shutter speed of 1/500 second. Edited in Lightroom, with B&W conversion in Photoshop CC. Oil Paint filter used to provide texture.
