Maker's notes:
This image was shot in Perrot State Parks prairie area. I passed this on the trail after doing some night shooting. The shape was unique so I thought trying a flash shot might be interesting. I handheld the shot using the built-in flash on my Canon 7D. Set up in manual mode with a shutter speed of 1/60 sec for flash sync, ISO 800 and aperture f/5. It was dark, so I should have used the tripod but setting it up is the dark for an impulse shot was too much hassle. Zoom lens set to 50mm.
