LACC Members and Friends,
I hope everyone has had a great summer We’ll be starting off the year a little earlier than usual, with the annual picnic being in late August and the 1st meeting in early September. There will be a couple of additional e-mails in the next couple of weeks covering the meeting schedule, the competition schedule, website updates, etc.
PICNIC
Our first meeting of the year will be a potluck picnic at the Myrick Park Main Shelter on Tuesday, August 26th at 5:30 PM. The picnic is open to club members, and anyone interested in learning more about the club. Bring a dish to share, your own table service and something to drink. It's time to get caught up again after the summer. If it's a nice night, bring your camera or cell phone and join the group to do some shooting in the Marsh after we eat.
1st regular meeting
We will begin our regular meeting schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 9th at 6:30 PM, at the South Side Community Center. Note – the remainder of the meetings will be at the normal location, the Black River Beach Community Center.
The program will be a collection of “Subjects to cover at the 1st meeting of the year”.
- Member Introductions
- Goals for the year
- Review Submission rules
- How to resize photos
- Category Review / Definitions
- N4C
- This is also a great time to ask any questions about anything which was unclear last year, or or something to add to the agenda.
Competition / Judging
Competition begins at the October 14th meeting, with images due Sunday, 10/05/25. There will be an additional e-mail covering the competition schedule for the 2025 / 26 season. The schedule will be also available on the website shortly.
The categories for the October competition include Open, Nature. Creative, and B&W Prints.
Before submitting entries, please review the guidelines for submission available on the club website. There are details as footnotes on the competition schedule particular to the coming season.
Photo drop off information to follow.
As always, the digital copy of the prints must be entered on the website by the Sunday, 5pm deadline.
2nd as always, remember to help out and sign up to a judge. Also, being an “Observer” at the judging is helpful in leaning photo evaluation.
With cell phone photography rapidly advancing, anyone can submit cell phone photos into competition using the same rules we use for DSLR and other cameras. Please encourage your cell phone photography friends to come to the picnic, and join our club.

Mary Ann Roesler is doing an excellent job submitting our images for N4C competition. She picks from our usual judging categories for the monthly submissions. However, N4C has one category "Travel" that we don't use. If anyone wants me to submit one of your best Travel photos, send them to Mary Ann [Email redacted: Contact her for email address or see emailed copy of this newsletter].
The file name of the image must include either the foreign country and subject, or the USA State and subject. File Size and type is the same as submitting to LACC competition.
Thursday Night Dinner:
We will be continuing the Thu meet-ups as in the past.
