LACC Members and Friends

We gave it a good try last Sunday, warm temps, no bugs, good turnout, great conversation, but no STARS, the clouds just kept coming in.   We did get in some good practice shooting foreground at dusk.  But never fear, we will try again on Thursday, June 23rd.  For those interested, at 9 PM I will again teach how to capture foreground shots at dusk that can then be made into a composite with the Milky Way shoot made later that evening.  If you want to only shoot the Milky Way arrive at 10:30 PM if you want setup assistance or about 11 PM to shoot. The galactic center will first be visible about 11:15 with the best shooting starting 30 minutes later.   This workshop is intended for both experienced and beginning Astro photographers.   Suggestions for a successful shoot: Bring Bug Spray, Wide angle lens (zoom or prime) capable of 25mm or less, tripod, red headlamp, know how to put your camera in manual mode and adjust aperture/shutter speed/ISO.  If setting manual mode is a challenge for you come at 9 for help.  It is difficult to teach camera basics in the dark.  We will return to the Brownsville Wildlife Overlook on 26 south of Brownsville, Minnesota.  It is a safe location with plenty of parking and room for many photographers.  To get a map just type Brownsville Wildlife Overlook into google maps.  We have had great success at this location on previous shoots.  I will put out an update on the shoot about 8 PM with the status of the weather and any cancellation if necessary.

Year End Banquet
Last Call for reservations for the year end banquet.  We will all be gathering together for a great meal and presentation of the YEAR END RESULTS on Friday, June 17th at Durgan's Castle Mound Restaurant (W7665 Sylvester Rd, Holmen, WI 54636 ) at 5:30 PM for Social Time and 6:00 PM for Dinner.  Drugan's will be preparing a delicious 3 meat buffet (Chicken, Ribs and Ham) with salad bar,  potatoes, vegetable, dinner roll and desert.  Coffee is included with the meal, a cash bar will be available for soft and adult beverages.  Because we missed the Pizza party the club will be paying $5.05 of the $35.05 cost of the meal for all attendee's.  The end cost for each attendee is $30.00.  All members are welcome to bring a guest.  To reserve a spot send a check covering all attendees to me (Brian Narveson, [address removed]) by June 7th. Please write the check to the La Crosse Area Camera Club.  You can also send me payment via PayPal at [email removed] .  I look forward to seeing all of you at the banquet.
