LACC Members and Friends

Want to have some fun in the dark.  Join club members to shoot the Milky Way.  In May the weather didn't cooperate, so we are trying again this Thursday, June 23rd.  For those interested, at 9 PM I will again teach how to capture foreground shots at dusk that can then be made into a composite with the Milky Way photos made later that evening.  If you need assistance with camera setting, please also arrive around 9 PM as learning camera settings in complete darkness is very hard.

If you want to only shoot the Milky Way, and know how to set up, arrive at 10:30 PM. The galactic center will first be visible about 11:15 with the best shooting starting 30 minutes later.   This workshop is intended for both experienced and beginning Astro photographers.   Suggestions for a successful shoot: Bring Bug Spray (both Nat and Mosquito), wide angle lens (zoom or prime) capable of 25mm or less, tripod, red headlamp, know how to put your camera in manual mode and adjust aperture/shutter speed/ISO.  If setting manual mode is a challenge for you come at 9 for help.  It is difficult to teach camera basics in the dark.  We will be shooting at the Brownsville Wildlife Overlook on 26 south of Brownsville, Minnesota.  It is a safe location with plenty of parking and room for many photographers.  To get a map just type Brownsville Wildlife Overlook into google maps.  We have had great success at this location on previous shoots.  I will put out an update on the shoot about 8 PM with the status of the weather and any cancellation if necessary.

Hope to see you Thursday night.
